In our line of work, we have the privilege of being a part of people’s most joyous moments, witnessing the profound and beautiful natures of love and the deep human connections we share. While I’d never admit to having favorites, there are certain experiences that leave an indelible mark on our hearts, including the newest members of the Zazzy family: Amar + Anuj.
Early 2022, Amar reached out to us to build an engagement ring. We mailed a ring sizer to his Chicago address, and after a few conversations, Amar decided to take a brief pause on buying rings. It was a decision that demonstrated his commitment to making the proposal moment truly special.
Fast forward to earlier this year, Amar reconnected, placing design deposits and reigniting excitement. That’s when I had the pleasure of meeting Anuj for the first time through a heartfelt FaceTime conversation. I could tell, albeit virtually, that the two gentlemen shared a timeless connection – igniting that same heart-melting feeling that we experience when reading the end of a classic, uplifting romance book.
Recently, Amar and Anuj graciously shared their proposal pictures with us. I instantly felt compelled to share their love story with our Zazzy family, as it encapsulates the essence of our mission: to be a damn good jewelry company for the everyday extraordinary.

Amar has wanted to be proposed to since an early age. He did not want anything extravagant – he wanted the experience to be meaningful and adventurous. While dating, Amar shares his dream with Anuj only to find that Anuj also wanted to be proposed to. At that point, Amar and Anuj accepted the challenge to create dream proposals for each other.
Amar does not like surprises. Keeping him in the loop, Anuj dropped a hint and mentioned that he was considering proposing during the 2023 World Pride Celebration in Australia.
Amar took the Australian adventure day by day, knowing well that a proposal was in the horizon and he was determined to not to let anticipation of a proposal cloud his enjoyment.
Skydiving was by far the most exciting activity Amar was anticipating. Since Amar had dived before, Amar’s primary focus was on calming Anuj’s nerves. Lost in the flow, Amar attention was diverted to enjoying the views, the sunrise, and the liberating feeling of flying through air.
Little did Amar know that Anuj’s nerves were for proposing to Amar after landing. On his decent, Amar spots a giant banner and a corgi. Confused, Amar thought, “Whiskey, tango, foxtrot – why is there a random dog on the landing pad?” Landing, Amar quickly realized that the banner was for him. Swearing every four letter word Amar knew, Anuj seized the moment and kneeled, on one knee. Although the exact words Anuj spoke were lost in the moment, Amar’s heart was profoundly moved, and tears of happiness streamed down his face for the very first time. Anuj asked Amar whether or not he’d jump out of a plane again with him, and what we all assumed was the equivalent to asking “Will you marry me?”
Radiating with pure bliss, they embraced in a tight hug, sealing their engagement with a tender, heartfelt kiss. In that magical instant, surrounded by immense happiness and love, Amar and Anuj embarked on a new chapter of their lives together.
Anuj does not like surprises either. Amar, unlike Anuj, changed the rhythm a bit. Amar sold Anuj on the story that he will be proposing in London.
The weekend before their London trip, Amar disclosed that he planned a surprise trip to Napa to celebrate his parent’s 55th anniversary. Not thinking anything of the proposal, Anuj was excited to spend the weekend in wine country.
Landing a day early and Friday morning, Amar introduced the idea of going to a local winery prior to his parent’s arrival. Arriving at the winery, the attendant said it was a slow day and that they had two seats reserved in a private room. They headed towards the room and Anuj loved that the menu was customized, a specialty of smaller winery’s.
